⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 – Real Review After 2 Weeks of Use

Fit & Comfort:
Out of the box, the gloves felt good overall. The left glove fit great, especially at the fingertips — snug but not tight. However, the right glove felt noticeably tighter and different in the way it wrapped my hand. Not a huge issue, but definitely felt unbalanced between both hands.

Now, the thumb compartment on the left glove was rough the first few sessions. I know leather gloves need to break in, but it was way more painful than I expected — to the point where my thumb went numb from how restricted it felt. It’s gotten better with use, but if you’re sensitive or prone to hand/thumb pain, be ready for an uncomfortable break-in period.

Wrist Support:
Honestly, this is where the gloves shine. For a Velcro model, the wrist support is excellent. Really locks in the hand and gives that secure feeling — definitely above average in this category.

Padding & Knuckle Protection:
The padding is solid, but I did notice something weird: it wiggles slightly during some punches, especially with hooks or angular shots. It’s not a huge flaw, but it feels like the padding isn’t locked down tight enough inside the glove shell. Straight punches feel fine though.

Materials & Build Quality:
The leather is legit high-quality, and the stitching is clean. No visible issues in the build, and the gloves look great visually. You can tell care went into the construction.

Final Thoughts:
For my first pair of Velcro gloves, I’m overall happy. But at 3,000 MXN, I did expect a more ergonomic and comfortable feel out of the box. The glove takes some time to mold to your hand, and especially the thumb positioning could be improved — it doesn’t naturally follow the curve of your fist at first, and it feels a bit restrictive.

That said, I would recommend them, just be ready for a painful break-in, especially around the thumb. Once that’s done, you’re left with a quality glove that performs well, supports your wrist, and looks sharp.

Best boxing gloves I’ve had

Bought them as a substitute for Cleto Reyes without expecting much. They beat every single one of my expectations. Durable, comfortable and light. I use them regularly for bag work and sparring and they excel every time.

Return policy is unreasonable

The gloves inner lining caused my finger tips to go numb and the company won’t accept the return. The glove is new and tested once

I’m sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced. Sometimes brand-new gloves need a short break-in period before the inner lining fully conforms to your hand’s shape. As the padding and lining settle, they usually become more flexible and comfortable.

Here are a few suggestions to help the gloves mold to your hands more quickly:
Wear Them for Short Sessions: Use the gloves for light shadowboxing or wearing them around the house for 10–15 minutes at a time. Repeat daily to allow the lining to stretch and soften.
Gently Massage the Padding: With gloves on, flex your fingers and massage the inside palm and finger areas to loosen up the lining.
Use Hand Wraps: Wrapping your hands snugly can help create a more uniform shape inside the glove as it breaks in.

Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your patience as the gloves adjust to your hands.

Question about Products

1. What are the differences between genuine leather gloves and Microfiber gloves?

The differences between genuine leather and microfiber boxing gloves lie in their materials, durability, and maintenance.

Material

  • Genuine Leather Boxing Gloves: Made from the hide of animals, typically cowhide. Leather is a natural material known for its toughness and flexibility.
  • Microfiber Boxing Gloves: Made from synthetic fibers designed to mimic the properties of leather. Microfiber is a man-made material that can vary in quality but is generally engineered for specific performance characteristics.

Durability

  • Genuine Leather: Known for its long-lasting durability. Leather gloves tend to withstand extensive use and retain their quality over time if properly maintained.
  • Microfiber: Generally durable, but not as long-lasting as leather. However, Fairtex Fairtex uses premium quality microfiber that is highly resilient and holds up well against wear and tear.

Maintenance

  • Genuine Leather: Requires regular maintenance, including conditioning and cleaning, to prevent drying and cracking. Leather gloves can also absorb moisture, which may lead to odor if not properly dried.
  • Microfiber: Easier to maintain than leather. Microfiber is typically more resistant to moisture and less prone to odor. Cleaning usually involves simple wiping and less frequent conditioning.

The choice between genuine leather and microfiber boxing gloves depends on individual preferences, budget, and intended use.

2. What model of gloves should I purchase?

First, you may need to identify the purposes of your training. Fairtex offers various types of boxing gloves that serve different training purposes.

  • Training Gloves: For general training, including bag work and pad work. (ex. BGV1, BGV14)
  • Sparring Gloves: Softer and designed for sparring with a partner to minimize injury. (ex. BGV5, BGV6, BGV18)
  • Bag Gloves: Designed for heavy bag work, typically more durable with denser padding. (ex. TGO3, TGT7)
  • Competition Gloves: Lighter and used in official matches. (ex. BGL6)
3. What size of gloves I should select?

Boxing gloves are measured in ounces (oz) and typically range from 8 oz to 20 oz. The right size depends on your weight, the type of training, and personal preference. Common guidelines are:

  • 8-10 oz: Generally used for competition.
  • 12 oz: Common for women and those with smaller hands.
  • 14 oz: Often used for general training and sparring.
  • 16 oz: Standard for sparring and general training for most adults.
  • 18-20 oz: Used by larger individuals or for extra protection during sparring.
