Mr. Phillip Wong's relationship with Muay Thai began with a loss. At five years old, he lost his first fight, but he refused to let that defeat define him. Years later, after moving to Hong Kong without speaking the language, Muay Thai became his way to build confidence, earn respect, and stand on his own.
"If you're weak, people push you down. But if you're strong, they respect you."
Muay Thai gave him more than the ability to defend himself. It gave him an identity, and a lesson that would shape the rest of his life: strength is built, and respect is earned.

As Mr. Wong grew older, his connection to Muay Thai became less about proving himself and more about giving back to the sport that had given him confidence and direction. He made a promise: if he ever had the means, he would help Muay Thai reach beyond Thailand and earn the recognition it deserved.
He asked his father for a piece of family land on which to build a training camp. His father, a traditional businessman, saw little commercial sense in the idea. Mr. Wong persisted. The camp that followed became the foundation of Fairtex — a place where fighters, trainers, and the brand could grow together.
Standards He Refused to Compromise
At a time when the integrity of the sport was often tested, Mr. Wong chose to protect the standards Fairtex stood for, even when doing so came at a personal cost. He supported the camp through difficult years and refused to compromise the values on which it was built. The camp faced setbacks and closures, but each time, he found a way to begin again.
"I never made money from Muay Thai. But I never gave up."
Starting Again at Sixty-One
At 60, when many people would have been preparing to slow down, Mr. Wong chose to take on his most ambitious project yet: a major Fairtex training destination in Pattaya. He invested the strength of everything he had built into creating a new home for Muay Thai.
The project opened during one of the most difficult periods in Thailand's tourism history. Guest demand fell, debt mounted, and the business came under immense financial pressure. For the first time, the future of everything he had built was uncertain. Walking away would have been easier. Instead, he chose to face the problem directly.
With his family, employees, and community depending on him, Mr. Wong negotiated a 20-year repayment plan and began rebuilding. It took every one of those years, but he repaid every baht and brought Fairtex back stronger than before.
"I started again at 61. And I made it even bigger than before."
Something That Helps People
For Mr. Wong, rebuilding Fairtex was never only about restoring a company. The responsibility extended to the people and communities that had grown alongside it from supporting long-serving retired employees to helping bring medical care to rural villages.
"I'm not building a business. I'm building something that helps people — my staff, my community, my country."

The First Training Camp
The first Fairtex Muay Thai Training Camp opened in Bangkok, built to give disadvantaged youth opportunities through Muay Thai. Fairtex became one of the first Thai gyms to welcome international fighters and train female athletes.

Fairtex Arrives in America
Fairtex opened the first authentic Muay Thai training camp in the United States.

The First Boxing Gloves
Fairtex made its first boxing gloves, the start of a reputation built over decades of refusing to cut corners.
